Treaty, Voice & Truth Telling

A panel discussion and time for listening.
Sat 8 Jul 2023 4:30 pm
Theatre Royal

2023 is one of those rare years in which Australia’s population can vote to change its constitution.
The process of working out why it may or may not need changing begins with listening.

This special panel combines lived experiences, ideas of cultural identity and activism, sociology, history and politics from three Tasmanian Aboriginal people as they explore the proposition of a treaty, the myriad points of view around the Voice and their experience of truth telling as a process.

Panelists

Michael Mansell | Palawa activist, lawyer, & author of Treaty and Statehood
Maggie Walter | Professor of Sociology & Pro Vice-Chancellor of Aboriginal Research and Leadership University of Tasmania
Kerry Sculthorpe | Palawa Community Advocate
Facilitated by Sarah Wilcox
