Affordable tickets

In addition to the standard concession pricing offered on most shows, the following affordable ticket programs are offered for all performances within the 2024 Theatre Royal Season.

30 under 30

This initiative aims to make more affordable tickets available to young people.

In 2024, a percentage of tickets at every performance for shows in the Theatre Royal Season will be made available to people under 30 years old, for $30.

  • 30 under 30 tickets will be available 6 weeks prior to the first performance until the allocation is exhausted.
  • Tickets will be available in all seating categories.
  • To access this program, you will need to provide evidence of your date of birth and our Box Office will validate your customer account for the 30U30 ticket category. You can do this via our box office in person, or via the validation link below.

Once validated, you will need to login to your account to access these discounted tickets.

Industry Allies

Because we think it’s important that creative professionals get to experience as much art as they can, we have implemented the Industry Allies program.

Industry Allies will have access to a limited number of tickets at every performance for shows in the Theatre Royal Season, for just $30.

  • Industry Allies tickets will be available 6 weeks prior to the first performance in all seating categories.
  • This program is available to Tasmanian professional performing artists and arts workers and can be accessed by completing a simple online application form here

We know definitions of “professional” and “arts worker” can be slippery, especially when so many people must take on multiple jobs in different sectors. It’s not black and white, but here’s our guide for this particular program:

  • Performing artists and arts workers covers a broad range of creatives (performers, designers, playwrights, etc.) and arts workers encompasses all those other roles that help make the performing arts happen (stage and technical crew, producers, marketers and administrators, etc.).
  • Professionals are defined as people who are paid for their work, so we would expect you to be earning and relying on an income from your practice. You should have a current practice, including paid professional work over the past 12 months.

Note, teachers and students are not included in this program, unless you have a current professional practice in addition to your work and study.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email confirming that when you log in to your account, the option to purchase tickets at the Industry Allies discounted price will be available to you within the 6-week discount ticket window for each season.

Industry Allies will remain registered for until 31 December 2025, before needing to reapply and we will send a reminder email, letting you know when sales commence for each show.
