Wonder
For one night only, Tasmania Collective brings together chamber strings, a jazz rhythm section and voice for a concert that moves between classical and contemporary as though the line between them never existed.
Acclaimed artists Maria Lurighi and Andrew Legg lead a program of original arrangements and a brand-new, world-premiere composition by Tasmanian composer Matthew Boden - reimagining music by Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Nirvana and more. Inspired by Maya Angelou's poem Wonder, the performance reflects on presence, perspective and what it means to be human - moving through urgency, groove and stillness to create a sense of connection and shared experience across generations.
This is an intimate, immersive experience by design. In the Studio Theatre, some seats are placed right beside the musicians, dissolving the distance between performer and audience.
Expect the unexpected. Strings. Voice. Rhythm. Wonder.
