The Theatre Royal is committed to providing a wonderful experience for all of our guests.

With the opening of the new Hedberg development, accessibility for all was at the forefront of designing and improving the amenities. As part of the Hedberg performing arts centre, a new public entrance provides equitable access into all levels. A multi-level foyer space provides lift access to the Dress Circle and Gallery, and wheelchair access is available in both the Stalls and Dress Circle levels of the Theatre Royal.

Arriving to the Theatre: There is equal access car spaces located on Collins Street as well as car spaces directly at the entrance for drop off for patrons who are in wheelchairs or who have mobility issues. 
Please be aware that the set down/ drop off areas have limited capacity and we recommend allowing time for possible delays.

Entrance to the Theatre: There is lift access in the main entrance that has access to all levels including the box office, Main Stage Stalls, Dress Circle and Gallery, Studio Theatre Stalls and Studio Theatre Balcony Seating.

Wheelchair Seating: The Theatre Royal Main Stage and Theatre Royal Studio Theatre have dedicated seating options for guests in wheelchairs and their guests.
The Main Stage includes seating options in the Stalls and Dress Circle. The Studio Theatre includes seating options in the Stalls.

Bathrooms at the Theatre: There are equal access bathrooms on every level at Theatre Royal.

Companion Card: Theatre Royal is a signatory to the Companion Card Scheme and accepts the Companion Card for ticketed entry. Please contact the Box Office direct for a Companion Card booking.

Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs: Theatre Royal welcomes guests accompanied by guide, hearing or assistance dogs and our staff are trained to meet the needs of support dogs and their handlers.


Assisted Hearing Service

The Theatre Royal Main Stage and the Studio Theatre is equipped with an Assisted Hearing Service. This system can assist patrons with all levels of hearing impairment including hearing aids.
The Main Stage service offers amplified sound through dedicated headphones or using a neckloop that interacts with modern hearing aid devices.   The Studio Theatre has ability to connect Hearing Aids to the system.

This equipment can be collected, complimentary, from the Box Office.
