Twenty-one musicians and dancers from the Lutruwita Art Orchestra (LAO) take students on a musical journey from the Andes to Kunanyi (Mt Wellington) in Nipaluna (Hobart).

Son de la Montaña celebrates the rich musical and cultural traditions of South and Central America, weaving together themes of belonging, culture and home while acknowledging the contributions of the South and Central American diaspora in Lutruwita (Tasmania).

Through live music, dance and storytelling, students will discover traditional instruments, costumes and dance styles from communities along the Andean mountain range. Blending South American musical traditions with jazz, Western classical, folk, contemporary performance and improvisation, the work is led by LAO artists Lea Palacios, Pablo Cadenas and Kat Diaz Robayo, alongside collaborators Franco Solis, Elias Solis, Ana Carolina Ceballos, Maira Rodriguez and Spike Mason, creating a vibrant and engaging cultural experience.
