Jesu, meine Freude
Established in 2025, Sonus Lux is a collection of nipaluna Hobart’s leading singers and choral conductors, including two current members of the Conservatorium of Music. Brought together by their passion for singing challenging choral repertoire together, their first performance of 2026 holds true to their core, with a collection of works that connect the group through their beauty and portrayal of joy.
J.S. Bach’s complex cantata ‘Jesu, meine Freude’ provides the heart of the programme. This is paired with two masterpieces by 16th Century composer Josquin des Prez, ‘Inviolata, integra et casta es’ and ‘Ave Maria’, alongside some contemporary choral surprises. Sonus Lux is delighted to be collaborating with the newly re-established Conservatorium of Music at the University of Tasmania, performing in the incredible Ian Potter Recital Hall for their Hedberg debut. Join Sonus Lux for a lunchtime of choral bliss in ‘Jesu, meine Freude’.
