GREAT SOUTHERN DANCE PRESENTS

HUMAN BA LA LA

SCHOOL SHOW
Fri 8 Apr 2022 11:00 am
Studio Theatre

Ever wanted a second chance? Ever wanted to go back to the start?

Driven by outstanding professional contemporary dance, Human Ba La La puts an open-hearted, full-bodied spin on themes of arrival and place with one eye on our pasts and the other on our here and now.

In this world premiere, Great Southern Dance harnesses the visual and narrative power of film, sound, set and lighting alongside live performance by international dancers in their prime and back on shore.

Great Southern Dance Artistic Director Felicity Bott leads a company of highly skilled Tasmanian artists to weave the filmed beauty of local landscapes with space transforming design. Human Ba La La has an exceptional creative team, including an original score by composer Dean Stevenson, lighting and film by Nicholas Higgins, set and design by architect Paul Wakelam and dramaturgy by Christine Best. Join us on this vivid and breathtaking ride.

Audiences will seesaw on the lows and highs of exhilarating performance depicting raw challenge and unfettered human hope.
