Audio Description

What is an Audio Described Performance?

In an audio described show audience members can listen to a description of the visual aspects of the performance described live to headsets in the auditorium.

It is a verbal commentary that tells visually impaired patrons what is happening on the stage during the parts of the performance where there is no dialogue (i.e. during fight scenes or dance). It allows patrons who are vision impaired to fully participate in the performance.

Audio description for Wayfinder extended beyond the show itself with a pre-show tactile tour, giving participants details of the program and descriptions of costumes and stage settings before a performance starts. Please see the Tactile Tour page for more information.

We provided 8 headsets for each Audio Described Performance.

The Audio Describer was Lesley Graham.
