Welcome to the Theatre Royal’s 2010 Season
We hope you’ve enjoyed the festive season and now it’s time to look forward to the exciting 2010 season at the Theatre Royal. We’re proud to present productions from around the world, across the Strait – and a huge program from around the corner too. From grand, traditional, famous pieces, through to cutting-edge dance, music, drama and plenty of madcap humour.
2010 features a strong dance season and includes Bangarra’s telling of the tragic Tasmanian story, Mathinna; Tasdance’s collaboration with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Graeme Murphy in the new work Heart Matters and Kate Champion’s award-winning The Age I’m In.
Drama includes the Queensland Theatre Company’s production of Michael Gow’s Toy Symphony, the classic A Day in the Death of Joe Egg and the moving Red Sky Morning written by Hobart’s AWGIE winning Tom Holloway.
Our music season features the renowned Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, Tex Perkins and band in the Johnny Cash story, The Man in Black and the extraordinary TaikOz, pounding pure energy into strong rhythms.
The Theatre Royal is especially proud to partner with creative Tasmanians to present a strong showcase of work in 2010. The ‘list’ includes: Graeme Murphy, Tasdance, the TSO, Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Tom Holloway, Claremont College, Uni Revue, The Wizard of Oz and... following the huge success of Miss Saigon, Craig Wellington and his team will be back with another ‘Blockbuster’ musical.
The 2010 season will be stimulating and exciting and offer you the chance to enjoy a year full of very special nights out. We look forward to seeing you soon at the Theatre Royal!
