Come on a journey to Antarctica, following the story of a penguin biologist venturing to the icy continent for a year in the vast wilderness.

Birdie is down south for peace and science, the climate is changing, and her life will never be the same again!

A collaboration between songwriter Dugald McLaren and Antarctic ecologist Dr Dana Bergstrom, Songs from Antarctica is the song-cycle concert version of their musical theatre work Antarctica,  which was nominated for 6 Tasmanian Theatre awards in its 2016 debut season.

Presented with 6 singers, a small chamber ensemble, 2 puppeteers with a host of animals and narrated by Antarctic scientist, Prof Steven Chown, Songs from Antarctica will touch the heart of all who come to experience this production.

Presented by Sundog Productions. This project is assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts and is part of the Australian Antarctic Festival Program.

"Forget preconceived ideas of musicals, this one takes you on a trip to Antarctica and returns with hummable tunes! Don't miss it!"
