In the age of reflexive social media posting, of hastily composed tributes and diatribes, of sixty second rants and two second gifs, of rapid scrolling and indiscriminate trolling Burning Words takes you to another, more measured time. A time when extraordinary artists crafted their thoughts into words that still illuminate and warm us. 

Burning Words brings together four of Hobart's best known performers to read some of their favourite poems.  In the warm ambience of the Despard Gallery, Guy Hooper, Robert Jarman, Jane Longhurst and Ben Winspear will  introduce and present classic and well-loved works from great poets including Emily Dickinson, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Robert Browning.  And also William McGonagall.
