Our Venues

The Theatre Royal consists of a main stage and a small studio theatre called the Theatre Royal Backspace. Technical details for the main stage can be accessed here. The Theatre Royal Backspace is home to the Tasmanian Theatre Company, who are responsible for hiring and managing the majority of performances at this venue.

Our Services

Information and ticket sales, including choose your own seat online, is available from our What's On menu on this website; alternatively you can contact our friendly Box Office staff for assistance.  Whilst we encourage customers to collect their tickets well in advance of the show to avoid queuing, tickets may be collected from our Box Office prior to a performance on our main stage (please allow at least 30 mins before the show).  All ticket sales are final, however our staff will endeavour to assist you as best they can should you require help.

Our Foyer Bars offer a selection of beverages and snacks for you to enjoy during the show; food and drinks are permitted inside the venue (excluding hot items).  Our bar staff serve a large number of customers during short periods of time and our bars can therefore only take cash payment.
Our venue is a licensed premise and alcohol not purchased from us may not be brought onto or consumed on our premises.
(please note the Theatre Royal Hotel is a separate business despite the similarity of name).
