Carmen
Carmen 14/04/2012

MELBOURNE OPERA PRESENTS

The smoldering gypsy seductress, Carmen, leaves men panting for more. Foresworn to ‘freedom’, she can be embraced, but never possessed. Her fate lies inextricably in the cards. See how a casual, flirtatious dalliance when mixed with jealousy and obsession becomes a seriously deadly game of chance.

An unforgettable tragedy of shocking and risque morality, set to a fiery, colourful score infused with the pulsing sensuality of gypsy and Spanish influenced melodies.

Over 90 performers have been assembled by Melbourne Opera to bring Bizet’s dramatic story to life, creating an opera bursting with energy and packed full of great tunes including the Toreador Song, Habanera, Seguidilla and Flower Song.

This is a Theatre Royal Season 2012 show and is available for Season package discounts.

HENRY ROLLINS: The Long March
HENRY ROLLINS: The Long March 5/05/2012

For better than a quarter century, Henry Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist, as frontman for both Rollins Band and Black Flag and without a microphone, as a solitary traveller with insatiable curiosity bypassing the resorts in favour of places like Siberia and Senegal, or Burma and Bangladesh. His curiosity and hunger for experienced based knowledge, teamed with his willingness to travel, his no-holds-barred delivery of his opinions and observations, and wicked sense of humour make him one of the most inspiring and interesting commentators / entertainers of a generation.

He returns to Australia in 2012 for The Long March tour, a month long national odyssey - a stark contrast to the four intimate appearances he made in Sydney and Melbourne earlier this year, announced on an email, and which sold out in minutes.

Singer-songwriter, spoken word artist, writer, publisher, columnist, actor, radio host, television host, actor, activist and now photographer Henry Rollins is one of the most intriguing career chameleons of the modern world.
